AN INTERNATIONAL THEATRE PROJECT
I‑ONE was produced by TEAL HOUSE Foundation and co-produced by the Athens Epidaurus Festival.
Built around the world premiere of a new play by Ivan Vyrypaev, directed by Galin Stoev, the project brought together a multinational cast of Greek, Polish and Australian actresses and an international artistic team.
Presented at the Little Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus, I‑ONE connected a new work about consciousness, identity and artificial intelligence with one of the foundational spaces of European theatre.
The project unfolded in three connected forms: the world premiere, followed by a public conversation with the director and playwright; a masterclass by Ivan Vyrypaev; and a digital journey through contemporary Polish theatre.
01 WORLD PREMIERE
I-ONE

Little Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus
I‑ONE is a human encounter in the age of artificial intelligence.
At the centre of the story is a contemporary Medea: a woman trying to live with what she has done, what she has lost and what she can no longer bear.
Around her is America in 2050, a world where even the darkest human actions and the deepest forms of suffering have found a technological answer. I‑ONE, an artificial intelligence neuro-program, offers relief, order and a way to go on. All it requires is correction.
The closer I‑ONE comes to saving her, the less clear it becomes where correction ends, where she begins and what is meant to remain.
Structured as a three-voice oratorio and performed by Antigone Duchesne, Sofia Kokkali and Karolina Rzepa, the performance explores consciousness, identity and free will at a moment when technology is beginning to enter the deepest structures of human life.
Public Talk
Following the world premiere on 7 August, the audience met director Galin Stoev and playwright Ivan Vyrypaev for a public conversation about the performance, the questions behind it and the process of bringing a new play to the stage.

Constructing Identity in Contemporary Drama

What does it mean to create a dramatic character today, when the idea of a human being itself is changing?
In this masterclass, Ivan Vyrypaev explored how character and identity are formed through language, consciousness, memory, contradiction and inner conflict — and how contemporary drama can represent the fragmented experience of a person living today.
The conversation also turned to new technologies and artificial intelligence. Can AI remain simply a creative tool, or can it become a form of co-authorship? What changes when technology enters the creative process, and how might it reshape dramaturgy and the identity of the artist?
Connected directly to the creative process behind I‑ONE, the session combined an author’s lecture, guided discussion and an open Q&A.

INTO POLISH THEATRE:
A DIGITAL GUIDE
A Teal House Foundation project
Created specifically for the international audience of the Athens Epidaurus Festival, the guide extends I‑ONE beyond the stage and places the performance within the wider landscape of Polish theatre since 1989.
I‑ONE becomes the narrator of a journey through four forces that shape who we are and how we see others:

Through productions, artists, recordings and archival materials, the guide reveals how Polish theatre has responded to social change, newfound freedoms and unresolved conflicts — and how it continues to find new ways of asking what it means to be human.
Rather than functioning as an encyclopedia, the guide offers an accessible digital journey for audiences with little or no previous knowledge of Polish theatre. Created in English, Polish and Greek, it remains available as an open online resource.
